Skype is Microsoft's primary instant messenger, and it is now available as a Chrome browser extension or for Chrome OS devices, along with many other platforms: Windows, Mac OS, and more. Its latest version includes all of Skype's time-tested features as well as stability enhancements. However, as of this writing, Skype's userbase is becoming smaller due to a larger number of video and voice chat alternative such as Discord. Skype also requires more optimizations and so forth to run smoothly on its newest platforms. Overall, however, it is a solid product for any form of chat.
