Skype for Android 4.0 gets a minor update

According to its blog, Skype for Android users wanted an easier way to sign out. The option has now been added to the Menu button and the Recent, Favorites, People and Profile screens. This update follows last month’s big shake up of Skype’s design and interface.

Skype for Android 4.0 gets a minor update

The update also fixes smaller bugs that prevented some users switching to online if they had set their status to offline in version 3.2, before upgrading to 4.0. There are other minor bug fixes relating to video and translations.

Microsoft recently announced that over 100 million people use Skype on Android, undoubtedly helped by the closure of Windows Live Messenger. The continuous updates and improvements suggest it is keeping a close eye on the competition, with apps like Viber starting to become credible alternatives to Skype. Viber recently launched a desktop app, and has much better developed messaging features than Skype, which is something disgruntled Windows Live Messenger users have been requesting.
